Question:
What is the best way of keeping my accessories hygienically clean?
Answer:
The first thing you must be aware of is: what material is the accessory made of?
If it is made of stainless steel, polished aluminum or metal it is safe to use things like surgical spirit, alcohol, iodine etc. It is not recommended however to use any material containing bleach as this may react with and damage some metals.
If it is made of silicone rubber, latex or similar it is recommended that you use a water based disinfectant or water based liquid such as Dettol, Detox etc. These items can be left safely soaking overnight in these types of cleansers.
Acrylic plastic items with any type of conductive material attached to them should also be cleaned with water based liquids such as Dettol, Detox etc. You must not use surgical spirit or alcohol based products to clean these items as this will damage them.
Accessories such as clamps etc where made with plastic and metal can be cleaned using Dettol or Detox etc. but not recommended to be left soaking overnight and dried when cleaned.
Accessories such as expandable bands are recommended to be cleaned using good anti-bacterial wipes. This process is always helped if conductive gels and lubricants are not used with these products.
